Who We Are
Founded in 2019, our society is dedicated to marine conservation.
We organise talks, discussions, workshops, fundraisers, beach cleans, campaigns, documentary-screenings and other social events inspired by marine life and conservation to educate and advocate for the protection of our oceans.

If you are interested in learning more about marine life and how to protect the ocean, or are simply looking to surround yourself with a wholesome, ambitious group of thalassophiles ("lovers of the sea"), then this is the society for you!

I’m Hannah, a fourth year undergrad studying Linguistics and Anthropology. I’ve always been totally enamoured by the ocean and have already learnt so much about marine conservation through this society. I’m thrilled to be the society's president this year and can’t wait to meet and enact positive change with like-minded ocean advocates at our events!

Hello! I’m Julia, a final year Ecological & Environmental Science student and I’ll be Ocean Advocates first Campaigns Officer this year. After doing an internship on restoring coral reefs in Fiji, I became increasingly aware of the positive impact we can have as individuals and as a community to help save the ocean. For me, like so many, the ocean is a magical, entrancing and vital world. We must do our part to help it. After all, in the words of Sylvia Earle; “No water, no life. No blue, no green.”

I’m Valle, a postgraduate student in the MSc Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare programme. I am really passionate about all things animal related, both terrestrial and marine creatures. I love scuba diving, as the sea has always fascinated me. I’m really excited to be part of the committee and can’t wait to meet you all. Don’t forget to get your daily vitamin sea!
